The main editorial duty is the editorship of The International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment (Int. J. Life Cycle Assess.) published by Springer Heidelberg as "Editor-in-chief". For 15 years, the journal has been managed by Almut Heinrich, first at ecomed publisher (Landsberg/Lech) and since 2008 at Springer, Heidelberg. She now prepares the next challenge, the "LCA Compendium - The complete world of Life Cycle Assessment" with Walter Klöpffer and Mary Ann Curran (USA, retired from US-EPA) as editors-in-chief and Almut Heinrich as managing editor. Publishing house is again Springer. This work will consist of at least 10 volumes dealing with all aspects of Life Cycle Assessment and related methods. Int. J. Life Cycle Assess. has contributed to shape the field of Life Cycle Assessment together with the harmonisation and scientific development by SETAC (and more recently by the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative) and with the standardisation by ISO (14040+44). LCA is now the one and only international standardised environmental assessment method for product systems, including processes and services.
