This website provides information about the research and other activities by Walter Klöpffer, born June 6, 1938 in Graz, Austria. After his studies of chemistry and his PhD at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, he joined the Battelle Institute in Frankfurt/ Main, Germany in 1964. He has been living in Frankfurt/M since that time. Since 1975 he is a professor for Physical Chemistry at the Johannes-Gutenberg- University in Mainz. In 1995, three years after joining C.A.U. GmbH, he was appointed as editor-in-chief of "The International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment”, a newly founded periodical.
